What the heck is the fiscal cliff? We have answers

John Schoen will answer your questions about the fiscal cliff.

Stop! Wait! No! It's a "fiscal cliff," and the country is in danger of driving over it.

Yes, the term "fiscal cliff" has been in the news a lot lately, and you can be forgiven if you don't entirely know what it means. For starters, what's up with the name?

New York Magazine posted their own tongue-in-cheek Q&A to help clear up the confusion. It's called, "The Absolute Moron’s Guide to the Fiscal Cliff."

"Q: So, first things first: What is a “physical cliff”?

A: It’s fiscal. As in, relating to government finances."

Ahh, that makes a lot more sense. Now why again is it such a big deal?

Fear not, this Wednesday from 12-1 p.m., economic reporter John Schoen will host a live chat to help explain it all. No matter how dumb you think your questions are, John will answer them.

Spluh! It's a magic number created to limit the amount of fake money we can borrow from central bankers we pay to create it out of thin air for us.

The economy has become a way to fool ourselves into believing we own a lot more then we actually have.

It's a largely irrelevant line in the sand that gets bigger and moves every so often.

Just a symptom of the contagion.

Like most things in the news, its an imaginary item, created to cause fear to enable the gullible to be led in the way some politicians and advertising sellers (news organizations) would like.

Didn't the House, Senate, and the President agree on the fiscal cliff two years ago?

I think that we should be pushing the banksters/Federal Reserve over some sort of cliff. It doesn't have to be a fiscal one.

The cliffs at Niagra Falls, or the cliff off Boulder Dam come to mind.

Put this in perspective; it ain't Y2K. The sun will rise next morning, 7-Eleven will still sell beer and Repubs will continue to prefer Jeezuz over science...in short, no substantive change.

It is more of a fiscal "curb" than a "cliff".

I think we should just roll right over it...things will be fine.

Don't believe the Drama Queens in the Mainstream Media and their emotionally charged headlines, like "cliff" for example.

        Yes We Can!

Truth will emerge, finally: "Fiscal Cliff" is a corruption of the term "Fezekiel Cleft", an expression referring to the abysses in GOPer leadership brains into which all GOPer Ryanesque intellections regarding the good, the true, and the beautiful fall. Zzz From the ferment steaming from the dead GOPer ideas at the bottom of this Fezekiel Cleft will soon emerge the repentant and true temple of the the good, the true and the beautiful, zzzz also known as Pelosi's Palace. But only when Pelosi blows a farewell kiss into the Fezekiel Cleft and zzzzzzzzzzzz and The Mighty Vikings win the superzzzzzzzz-kinda fun, for me.
