A lot of Americans think it would be just fine for wealthy people to pay more taxes.
A new Gallup poll finds that two-thirds of Americans would be in favor of increasing income taxes for people who make more than $200,000 a year, or families bringing in more than $250,000 a year.
The same poll, conducted earlier this month, found that seven in 10 Americans also approve of increasing taxes on some corporations by eliminating tax deductions. Democrats are much more likely than Republicans to favor raising taxes for both groups.
President Obama has proposed dealing with the deficit in part by increasing taxes for wealthy people. Republicans have called such proposals class warfare.

Here’s who won’t be paying federal income tax this year

Funny how people that are poor with no business sense think they understand how business and tax matters work. 47% of Americans at the bottom PAY NO INCOME TAX. The top 1% pay 40% of all tax collected. The top 5% pay 70% of all tax collected. The US Government is 75 TRILLION in debt (15 Trillion plus 60 Trillion in unfunded Medicare & SS promises). The combined total net worth of the top 5% is 1.6 TRILLION dollors. If you took everything the top 5% own, the Government would still be 73.4 TRILLION in debt. The problem is not the wealthy, who save and invest, the problem is a NANNY STATE government and career politicians who promise voters whatever it takes to get elected, regardless of whether there is money to pay for it. Government overspending combined with 47% of Americans who pay ZERO income tax and use all the freebies they can grab, is the real problem. Sterilization instead of welfare, and many problems will be solved. The rich are not the problem, the poor having children they cannot afford to support and raise properly, along with Americans living beyond their means and expecting someone else to pay for it... are the problems. Time to stop the welfare and run the US like a business. No welfare, and tax everyone the same rate. Painful, but fair.
